|
Peter Warr |
2012 | ISBN-10: 085733123X ISBN-13: 978-0857331236 |
The late Peter Warr, who
died in October 2010, had two spells of management with Team Lotus:
1969-76 and 1981-89. After Colin Chapman died in December 1982, he
became the team's boss and in the years that followed his drivers
included Nigel Mansell and Ayrton Senna. He was one of Colin Chapman's closest allies as well as the man who nurtured the early Formula 1 careers of Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell. Frank, informative and beautifully written, his memoir remained unfinished at the time of his death in 2010, but the bulk of his work was done and thankfully can be published. This long-awaited inside story, which is of particular interest for its author's thoughts on Chapman and all the drivers he worked with, will be relished by all motor racing enthusiasts. Lotus 72 Owners' Manual
|
Ian Wagstaff | 2012 | ISBN-10: 0857331272 ISBN-13: 978-0857331274 |
The Lotus 72 is one of the
most successful Formula 1 cars ever made. This innovative car with
its wedge-shaped profile, side-mounted radiators and inboard front
brakes was driven during 1970 by Jochen Rindt, Formula 1 s
posthumous World Champion, and also gave Emerson Fittipaldi the
World Champion's crown in 1972. Here, in this new Haynes Manual, is
a unique perspective on what it takes to restore, maintain and race
a Lotus 72, as well as an insight into the design and engineering of
this legendary racing car. The Lotus 72 story: teething troubles;
debut win in 1970 Dutch GP; Rindt's posthumous World Championhip in
1970; a lean year in 1971 with no wins; another title in 1972, for
Fittipldi; team-mates Ronnie Peterson and Fittipaldi take seven wins
in 1973; protracted old age with active use lasting into 1975.
Anatomy of the Lotus 72: aerodynamics, chassis, engine,
transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, wheels and tyres,
electrics. Restore for track use: restoration projects; obtaining
spare parts; making replacement parts. The owner s view: buying a
Lotus 72; values and insurance. The driver s view: racing in period;
racing now. The engineer s view: maintenance and repairs; set-up for
racing. Hardcover, 210 x 17 x 270 mm, 160 pages |

Grand Prix Ford - DFV-powered
Formula One cars
|
Anthony Pritchard | 2014 |
ISBN-10:
1845846249, ISBN-13: 978-1845846244 |
Anthony Pritchard has
written a detailed and superbly illustrated account of the Formula 1
cars powered by the Ford DFV V8 engine. This all-conquering power
unit was the result of discussions between Colin Chapman and the UK
Ford Motor Company. Design, development and manufacture was
entrusted to the Cosworth company in Northampton, in response to
Lotus' desperate need for an engine for the 3000cc Formula 1 that
came into force for 1966. Lotus had exclusive use of the DFV in 1967, its first season, when Jim Clark drove the DFV-powered Lotus 49 to four World Championship victories. Becoming available to other Formula 1 teams in 1968, adopters included McLaren and Matra. Graham Hill won the Drivers' Championship with DFV-powered Lotus cars in 1969, and drivers of DFV-powered cars won the Championship in 13 out of 16 years. Hardcover, 224 pages, English |

For those not familiar with traditional Japanese printing, the binding is on the right side and they read from back to front in western terms. Japanese text. |

Working for leading sponsor John Player, Ian had the chance to capture the cars both in motion on the track, as well as in the pits and paddock, where he could ‘get up close’ to both the cars and drivers. With some of the most interesting images, the book gives the reader an insight to what it was like to witness these rare machines doing what they did best, race! |

Lotus 35 - A History
|
Kevin Whittle | 2016 | ? | When the FIA ended Formula
Junior, they decided upon a simple F3 series, and also F2 for 1
litre race engines and F1 graded drivers. For three years these
sophisticated miniature Grand Prix cars driven by the top F1 drivers
set new records. The all conquering Cosworth SCA motor was finally
challenged in 1966 by the twin overhead cam shaft, fuel injected 16
valve Honda motor. This book, tells the story of how Lotus developed its cars from the dual purpose FJ & F2 Lotus type 27, through the types 32 and 35. In the final year of the formula, the Ron Harris - Team Lotus entry was just a team of three type 44 cars. The book deals with ALL the cars and engines that competed, and by means of individual race reports and end of year summaries brings to life these superb but rarely seen cars. Lotus 98T Owners' Workshop
Manual
|
Stephen Slater | 2016 |
ISBN-10: 0857337777 ISBN-13: 978-0857337771 |
The Lotus 98T was the
1986-season, JPS-liveried F1 car driven by Ayrton Senna and
team-mate Johnny Dumfries. Senna took eight podium positions,
including two wins in the car, taking the fight to the superior
McLarens and Williams. The 98T was one of the ultimate incarnations
of an F1 car, powered by a Renault V6 turbo engine, which is
conservatively estimated to have produced up to 1,300bhp at full
boost. Senna was mighty to behold at the wheel of the 98T - he took
pole position at eight of the season's 16 races, with victories in
Spain and Detroit, famously crossing the line alongside Nigel
Mansell in Spain, to win by 0.014s. This Manual, extensively
illustrated with both period photographs and technical illustrations
and photographs of a recently restored car, provides a fascinating
insight into the design, evolution, operation, maintenance and
restoration of the Lotus 98T. 210 x 19 x 270 mm, 160 pages, hardcover |

These Japanese magazines are published quarterly, with plenty of
images of the respective subject on track and also pit lane photos
which get a little closer and will be useful for detailing work.
They don’t go into quite the level of detail as the Joe Honda
series, but they are rather less expensive and are still very handy.
For those not familiar with traditional Japanese printing, the
binding is on the right side and they read from back to front in
western terms.

Lotus 19 - a History
|
Kevin Whittle | 2017 | ? | This 152 page hardback
book covers the concept, race results and the structure of this long
lived very successful Lotus sports racer. The Lotus 19 was the sports car development of the 1960 Lotus F1 Grand Prix car. By widening the spaceframe and fitting a svelte 2 seat all enveloping body, Lotus were able to offer a guaranteed winner. Tony Robinson ran the UDT Laystall team that enjoyed much success in the UK and America. But it was the Americans who saw the potential of the car to accept large home grown V8 engines. Thus instead of the normal short competitive life of a race car, the Nineteen was successful over a much longer period a than any other comparable car. Entered but not raced at Le Mans in 1959, it also raced in the early years of the Can-Am series. It was also a winner ‘down under’ while on the European hill climbs it proved successful with a variety of engines. Truly a significant Lotus, successful, and adaptable. Yet the Lotus Nineteen Monte Carlo is often overlooked, and forgotten, few enthusiasts know the full history. |
Lotus 18: The

|
Ian Wagstaff | 2017 |
ISBN-10: 1907085033 ISBN-13: 978-1907085031 |
This lavish book tells the
story of the car in which Stirling Moss achieved two of his most
famous Grand Prix victories. The first World Championship race of
the 1½-litre Formula 1 era introduced for 1961 was the Monaco Grand
Prix and Ferrari’s powerful new ‘shark-nose’ cars were expected to
dominate it, but Moss used all his craft and guile to take a
celebrated win in his Lotus 18. Although Ferrari did prove to be the
dominant force that season, Moss scored a second success in this
same car, chassis number 912, at the Nürburgring, a race that turned
out to be the last World Championship Formula 1 victory of his
career. The car’s entire 1961 season, and its subsequent life, is
covered in fascinating detail in this ‘Great Cars’ book, supported
by a fine collection of period photographs. Hardcover, 320 pages, 300 illustrations, English, size 235 x 285 x 25 mm |

the race's beginnings through to the high-watermark of the 1960s

Stewart transformed the race from a largely United States event to

Black & Gold: The Story of
the John Player Specials
|
Johnny Tipler | 2019 | ISBN: 9781902351636 | Black & Gold The Story of
the John Player Specials, is the result of a veritable wealth of
knowledge and experiences from all the ‘players’ in a ‘special’
story that started in the 70s and is still recognised and remembered
the world over. The Black & Gold legacy endures in CTL through Clive
Chapman and former Team Lotus stalwart mechanics fettling and
running JPS F1 cars from those halcyon days at historic events
across the world. This book, Black & Gold, has been a gleam in publisher William Taylor’s eye for a long time. Probably eight years have elapsed since he and Johnny Tipler first talked about producing it. During that time Tipler spoke with the key figures from the JPS era – those who are still with us at any rate – while Taylor accumulated images of the period as well as amassing examples of John Player Special paraphernalia. There are also two different limited leather-bound "Special editions" of the book, autographed by one of two racing legends. You can get one of 72 copies autographed by Emerson Fittipaldi, who won the Formula 1 title in 1972, the first year of the JPS program. (His version of the car was the Lotus 72.) Or you can order one of 79 copies signed by Mario Andretti, who won the F1 title in the Lotus 79 in 1978. The “Special” Edition comes in a clamshell case with JPS badging on the front. |
