Lotus Emira (Type 131)

At the time of writing this (2020) Lotus has just announced that 2021 will be the final production year of the Elise and Exige.

A new series of sports cars is confirmed, with prototype production of the Lotus Type 131 to commence in 2021 from a world-class manufacturing facility in Hethel, Norfolk.

The images on the left site have been shown by Auto Express and Autocar as an example how the new car could look.

The Emira will be unveiled on Tuesday 6 July at Hethel, Norfolk – where the Emira will be built – and will make its public dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 8-11 July.

engine: Two petrol engines available, including new-to-Lotus 2.0-litre turbocharged ‘i4’ from technical partner AMG.

The  3.5-litre supercharged V6 known from the Exige and Evora to feature as ‘First Edition’ range-topper.

• Manual, automatic and Dual Clutch Transmission to maximise global appeal
• Power output from 360 to 400 hp at launch
• 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in less than 4.5 seconds
• Top speed of up to 180mph (290km/h)
• Target weight of 1,405kg in its lightest form
• Prices will start from under £60,000 (under €72,000)

engine:  3.5-litre supercharged V6 known from the Exige and Evora.

The First Edition version comes in one of six paint colours: Seneca Blue, Magma Red, Hethel Yellow, Dark Verdant, Shadow Grey and Nimbus Grey.

The First Edition version includes a lot of luxury, inclusieve

• the Drivers Pack; offers the choice of Tour or Sport suspension with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport tyres, or Sport suspension with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.
• the Design Pack; privacy glass, sports pedals, a black Alcantara headliner, and the choice of black, red, yellow or silver painted brake callipers. Lotus-branded footwell mats are also included) and
• the Convience Pack; front parking sensors, rear reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers with aero blades, auto-dimming mirrors and a rear luggage storage net.
