Lotus Esprit 007

    The Bond Esprit

The spy who loved me

Specially made for the 1977 James Bond movie "The spy who loved me". This car was not as amphibious as the movie suggested, but it made very good publicity for Lotus!

Lotus constructed 2 Esprit S1 roadcars and five bodyshells (used for the explosions) and the submarine. The complicated "submarinization" of the Esprit shells was carried out bij the Bahama-based specialists Perrys. Lotus did some basic submarine conversion, concentrating on items such as the external fins.

For your eyes only

In this 1981 movie, the Esprit Turbo was featured. The copper coloured Esprit Turbo was used in the second half of the film, fitted with ski racks.
